When You Need Pharmacy Pickup Authorization

Most pharmacies will release a prescription to someone other than the patient, but the rules tighten for controlled substances and for minors.

Bring the patient's full name and date of birth, your own photo ID, and ideally a note or phone call from the patient authorising the pickup.

Calling ahead is the single best way to avoid a second trip, especially for a first fill or a transferred prescription.
